Given that there's really only three "regular senior" players - Dan, Baz and Ross - and it's the latter two who haven't exactly prospered under the Moles regime, I'm inclined to think it's them. Then again, if it's true Vettori's been coaching the team for six months while Moles stands there clueless to provide tactical guidance or at least co ordinate technical support, maybe he's had enough. As co-selector and captain, perhaps Vettori felt he was powerful enough to force Moles out? However, Moles was ND coach, right? Vettori and Moles didn't seem to be on bad terms - perhaps it's a mixture of the two scenarios - other senior players don't like the coach, and Dan decides that unity within the core group of players is more important than siding with the coach and potentially creating a schism within the team.
